A recent report from Ponemon Institute says insider threats have increased by 47% from 3,200 in 2018 to 4,716 in 2020. The report“2020 Cost of Insider Threats: Global Report” reveals the cost of insider threat incidents also spiked by 31% from $8.76 million in 2018 to $11.45 million in 2020.
Negligent employees create around 62% of security incidents that cost companies an average of $307,111 per incident, the report found. Reduced vigilance of enterprises coupled with irresponsible employee behavior, can allow any malicious insiders to disrupt an organization’s operations.
