A team of academic researchers have found a way to use security error in the encryption algorithm used by Hive ransomware to recover stolen and encrypted data.
In a research paper published last week, scholars at Kookmin University of Seoul wrote how the risk of hive hacking had allowed them to retrieve the key and retrieve data without having the invalid RSA secret key.
Hive uses a hybrid encryption system and relies on its symmetric cipher file encryption, and researchers were able to identify how ransomware creates and maintains master key encryption.
