RiskIQ, a cloud security firm, was purchased by Microsoft for $500 million, according to Bloomberg. Microsoft cloud security vice president Eric Doerr announced the acquisition in a blog post, stating that the company will help customers gain a more comprehensive view of global threats to their businesses, better understand vulnerable internet-facing assets, and develop world-class threat intelligence.
Microsoft has bolstered its cybersecurity solutions by purchasing IoT security businesses CyberX and ReFirm Labs in the last year. Bloomberg claimed that Microsoft paid the $500 million in cash. Over the last year, security solutions have pulled in more than $10 billion in sales for the internet giant.
