Snake ransomware Spreads Venom as Corporate Networks Face Extortion Attempts

According to a recent report by Bleeping Computer, security researchers have noted a new wave of cyber-attack threats named snake ransomware. The threat was detected in January 2020 and consists of a crypto-malware family. The threat resulted in a few wild infections attacking entire corporate networks.

The ransomware hit one of Europe’s largest private hospital operators, Fresenius soon after.  According to sources, the threat results in mimicking families who refused to pay the ransom. The malware also managed to hold hostage a French architectural firm, and a prepaid debit card company among its several victims.
