SonicWall, a network appliance provider, has issued an urgent security advisory warning of impending data-encrypting ransomware attacks aimed at known and patched firmware vulnerabilities.
Ransomware attackers are “actively targeting” security flaws in the company’s Secure Remote Access (SRA) and Secure Mobile Access (SMA) 100 series products running unpatched and end-of-life (EOL) 8.x firmware, according to the company’s threat intelligence.
“The exploitation targets a known vulnerability that has been patched in newer versions of firmware,” the company cautioned, urging businesses still running its 8.x firmware to act quickly.
