Oliver Dowden, the UK Secretary of State for media, culture, digital, and sports recently published an intervention notice that will observe the country’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) conduct a phase one inquiry into the $40 billion acquisition of Arm by Nvidia.
Dowden said that they want to promote their growing UK tech industry and welcome global investment, but it is appropriate that they accurately examine the national security implications of a business like the aforementioned.
The CMA will have to prepare a detailed report until July 30 as to what needs to be done in the coming days.
