The RansomHub ransomware group is suspected to have attacked the oil service company Halliburton, prompting the US government to issue an advisory concerning the cybercrime gang. Although no technical details were disclosed, the steps taken by the company in response to the incident hinted that it might have been a targeted ransomware attack.
Following the incident, there have been unconfirmed reports linking RansomHub to the Halliburton attack, including statements from a ransomware researcher, Dominic Alvieri. At present, RansomHub’s leak website does not mention Halliburton, suggesting that negotiations with the company are ongoing if they are indeed responsible for the attack.
