Twilio confirmed a data breach impacting 33 million phone numbers linked to the Authy app after ShinyHunters hackers announced the leak on BreachForums.
Leaked data included phone numbers, account IDs, and some non-personal information of Authy users. Twilio secured the affected endpoint, which was accessed due to an unauthenticated request.
While their investigation found no evidence of further system intrusion or sensitive data exposure, Twilio cautioned Authy users about potential phishing and smishing attacks exploiting their phone numbers. Users must update their apps with the latest security patches to mitigate risks.
