Facebook has recently filed a lawsuit in Portugal against two Portuguese nationals for creating browser extensions that stole user data from the Facebook sites. When users installed the extensions on the browsers, they installed a concealed code meant for gathering information from the website and data related to the browsers used by users, irrelevant to Facebook.
As per reports, the extensions will scrape the name, user ID, relationship status, age group, gender, and other data related to the user account. These extensions were developed by an organization named “Oink and Stuff” that specializes in the creation of Android apps and browser extensions for Microsoft Edge, Opera, Firefox, and Chrome.
