Unprotected Elasticsearch servers at hackers’ mercy

Hackers have been identifying and infiltrating exposed database servers across the world.
Comparitech stated that in a honeypot experiment, within 12 hours of going live a server received 150 unauthorized requests. On an average, the website suffered 18 attacks per day, the server was live for 11 days as part of the experiment.

Companies are using default or wrongly configured security settings which have resulted in
increased numbers of data breaches.
