VMware has announced the acquisition of disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) firm Datrium.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will help VMware boo cloud-based disaster recovery capabilities. Datrium is already a VMware partner and offers disaster recovery as a service for VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS). VMware plans to expand its current, performance-optimized VMware Site Recovery DRaaS offering with Datrium’s cost-optimized DRaaS option. With this acquisition, Datrium will be able to accelerate its plans to support all major cloud platforms.
