Zama, a France-based open source cryptography company, announced on Thursday that it had raised USD 73 million in a Series A funding round.
Multicoin Capital and Protocol Labs led the investment, which Zama describes as one of the largest venture rounds in France’s history, with participation from Metaplanet, Blockchange, VSquared, Stake Capital, Portal Ventures, and several angel investors.
The company specializes in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), which allows encrypted data to be processed without decryption. Organizations can use FHE to provide services without seeing — or potentially exposing — their users’ data.
