Zoom, a leading provider of video conferencing services, has released an open source vulnerability impact scoring system that it has been working on for a year.
VISS, or the Vulnerability Impact Scoring System, is an adaptable framework that offers an online user interface and algorithms to assist organizations in evaluating and ranking vulnerabilities according to real-world exploitation evidence rather than hypothetical consequences. According to the business, VISS is meant to supplement the popular Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) and improve incident response capabilities.
Since March, Zoom has been using its bug bounty program to test the system, and according to the company, the use of VISS has increased the number of reports describing critical and high-severity vulnerabilities.
