Zscaler announces its decision to buy Smokescreen Technologies, which uses deception technologies to proactively hunt for new and evolving adversary techniques and strategies.
The proposed acquisition of Boston-based Smokescreen by Zscaler will make it easier to detect ransomware, highly targeted attacks, and lateral movement efforts, according to the company. Zscaler plans on integrating Smokescreen into its ZIA secure web gateway and its ZPA zero trust network access solution to improve its active defense capabilities, according to founder and CEO Jay Chaudhry.
The Smokescreen acquisition comes just a month after Zscaler agreed to buy Trustdome, a Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management platform.
