CISA Directs Government Agencies to Run Microsoft Malware Scanner

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has ordered the U.S government agencies with on-premise Exchange systems to manage Microsoft malware scanners and report results in a couple of days.

CISA published additional directions to its ‘ED 21-02’ directive; the novel request refers to all federal agencies with an Exchange server attached directly or indirectly to the internet at any point since the beginning of the year.

The movement follows the invention of software errors in on-premise versions of the Microsoft Exchange Server being abused by attackers. The exploitation of these vulnerabilities helps an attacker to gain access to on-premises Exchange Servers.
