Malicious groups are disabling features in Alibaba Cloud ECS scenarios for Monero crypto jacking, according to Trend Micro researchers.
Cybercriminal hackers have targeted the Alibaba Elastic Computing Service (ECS), disabling certain security features in order to further their crypto mining goals. Alibaba offers a few different options that make it a very attractive target for attackers, noted researchers.
According to a study from Trend Micro, the Chinese bully cloud (also known as Aliyun) has a pre-installed security agent.
