Fonix Ransomware Shuts Down_ Releases Master Decryption Key

The cybercrime group behind Fonix Ransomware have shut down their operation and released the master decryption key that will allow victims to decrypt and recover their files for free.

Fonix Ransomware, also known as FonixCrypter and Xinof, started operations in June 2020 and since then has been steadily encrypting victims.

Last week, a Twitter user claiming to be a Fonix ransomware admin announced that the ransomware had shut down. As per the message, some of the ransomware operation members were not happy that it was shutting down.
