Facial Recognition Firm

The privacy regulators of Australia and the UK have announced a joint investigation into Clearview AI controversies.

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office and Office of the Australian Information Commissioner have initiated a joint investigation into the personal data handling practices of the facial recognition firm, Clearview AI Inc. The investigation will focus on the company’s use of ‘scraped’ data and biometrics information of the users.

The investigation highlights the significance of enforcement cooperation towards protecting the personal information of UK and Australian citizens in a global data environment.

The report claimed that more than 600 law enforcement agencies had used Clearview AI in the past year alone – and all need to be investigated.
