Hackers gain access to gov accounts including license and Rego details-01

The South Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport has confirmed that mySA Gov accounts have been compromised by cyber-attacks. MySA Gov is an online platform for the South Australian government and an application that gives citizens access to a single government services account, such as a location check or completion of vehicle registration activities.

The department said criminals accessed these accounts as account holders used the same name or same password in their mySA Gov account as they used their account with an unrelated website. The criminals then used the passwords they found on the unrelated website to access the number of mySA GOV accounts. The department did not provide details about unrelated websites.

MySA Gov accounts were accessed from these attacks, 2,008 of which contained registration details and licenses.
