Intel Memory Vulnerability Puts Hundreds of Products at Risk

Intel has reported a memory bug in microprocessor firmware that affects “hundreds” of products. According to a company advisory released on Tuesday, the bug is firmware-based and rated as “high” risk with a CVSS score of 7.

The flaw can be found in select Intel Optane SSD and Intel Optane Data Center (DC) products, with the potential for privilege escalation, Denial of Service (DoS), and information leakage. Intel describes it as a Race condition within a thread in Intel Optane SSD and Intel Optane SSD DC devices, with a CVSS base score of 7.9.

Any attacker with privileged user access can leverage local access to launch a denial-of-service attack.
