Microsoft Teams Targeted With Takeover Trojans-01

A recently launched malicious campaign misused Microsoft Teams by distributing malicious software, reports business security firm Avanan.

Microsoft Teams Business Forum is an attractive component for both cybercriminals and advanced persistent threat (APT) characters, considering it serves more than 270 million monthly users, as of January 2022. Once installed, the malicious file writes data to the Windows registrar, then uses the DLL file and creates shortcuts so that the malicious program installed can “control itself.” Attackers may gain access to Groups discussions by hacking a user’s email account or using stolen information from Microsoft 365, email security company notes. Next, the enemy releases the Trojan into the conversation via a .exe file called “User Centric.”
