New hacker-for-hire group detected by BlackBerry

The security team at BlackBerry has announced the details of the newly detected hacker-for-hire group CostaRicto. This is the fifth group to be detected this year. Previosuly discovered groups include DeathStalker, BellTrox, Bahamut, and Unnamed group.

The origins of CostaRicto are yet to be identified. The group has launched attacks worldwide in locations like Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Americas. As per researchers, the hacker group has used a custom-built new malware, Sombra. No innovative techniques have been used. The Trojan allows hackers to access manipulated hosts, searching for sensitive data, and harvest important information and documents.
