Sophos Reports Data Security Breach

Sophos, a leading cybersecurity company, is currently notifying customers via email about a security breach the company suffered earlier this week. The data exposure included details such as email addresses and phone numbers.

This is the second major security incident the company has dealt with in 2020. Earlier in April, a cybercrime group discovered and misused a zero-day in the Sophos XG firewall to breach companies worldwide. The attackers had deployed the Asnarok Trojan, and once the zero-day was disclosed publicly, they attempted to deploy the ransomware but ultimately failed.

Sophos said it came to know about the data breach from a security researcher and fixed the issue right away.
