Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) today announced that Israel-based global vehicle monitoring and telemetry company Ituran has selected the HPE Alletra cloud-native data infrastructure to store all telemetry data from its activities in Brazil. The new data services solution enables Ituran to provide its customers with real-time access to vehicle data to improve automation, decision-making and business operations.
Ituran develops, manufactures and markets a complete set of innovative hardware and software solutions that address fleet management, stolen vehicle recovery, vehicle connectivity and usage-based insurance policies. Ituran services employ in-vehicle telematics to monitor driving behavior and their location. The data is then sent to Ituran’s data services cloud, where your customers can access, analyze and process it, enhancing their business with data-driven insights.
For example, this technology allows insurers to use these different sources of information to determine the appropriate value of insurance premiums based on individual driver behavior or to offer products based on the “pay as you drive” concept, linked to the use of of the insured vehicle.
Ituran’s business continues to grow, and the number of vehicles monitored with its services has increased considerably, as has the cross-reference of data collected with its services and the total volume of data. To maintain high quality services and reduce response times, Ituran needed a more flexible and scalable data services solution to not only increase storage capacity, but also store, process and protect data as efficiently as possible. The solution also needed to be more flexible to enable Ituran’s business to grow and innovate, which includes new fleet management services and shared autonomous vehicles.
“We are essentially an innovation company; investing in cutting-edge technologies is in our DNA and reflects the pioneering nature of our business”, explained Maurício Kikuchi, Ituran’s information director. “That’s why we selected the new HPE Alletra to help us manage our data. HPE Cloud Data Services will allow us to accelerate and implement new monitoring and tracking services to improve vehicle operations and safety.”
Ituran Brasil was an early adopter of the new HPE Alletra 9000 cloud-native data infrastructure and saw an opportunity to leverage the complexity of its data environment to innovate faster with a cloud operations experience offered by HPE. Ituran can now manage its data globally from anywhere and automate operations through a fully programmable API control plane unified with HPE Alletra. The new solution was sold by Aviti Solutions, an authorized HPE partner.
“The data services provided by the HPE Alletra Platform fundamentally change the way the Ituran technology team manages its storage by allowing it to get the cloud experience wherever your data is,” said Marcos Lhobregat, Storage Category Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Brazil. “Instead of managing data and infrastructure with a piecemeal approach, Ituran now has a platform where services are available with the speed and security it needs to meet the most demanding service level agreements.”
