Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced that it has agreed to acquire network equipment maker Juniper Networks for USD 14 billion in cash, in what is expected to be the first major tech deal of 2024.

The acquisition is anticipated to result in a significant shift in HPE’s portfolio toward more dynamic, high-margin networking business by doubling the company’s networking business and adding AI-native networking offerings.

The two businesses stated in their announcement of the acquisition that “the explosion of AI and hybrid cloud-driven business is accelerating demand for secure, unified technology solutions that connect, protect, and analyze companies’ data from edge to cloud.”
