Majority of Malware was delivered via encrypted HTTPS connections in Q1 2020

A new report from WatchGuard says 67% of all malware in Q1 2020 was delivered via encrypted HTTPS connections. Meanwhile, 72% of encrypted malware was classified as zero day vulnerability. Enterprises show that without HTTPS inspection of encrypted traffic and advanced behavior-based threat detection, they are missing up to 65% of incoming threats. In Q1, the UK was a top target for cyber criminals. The report notes the start of the significant changes to the cyber threat landscape owing to COVID-19 pandemic. The first three months of 2020 witnessed an increase in remote workers and attacks targeting individuals.
