North Korean Hackers Caught Using Microphone Wiretapping Malware

A cybersecurity firm called AhnLab has released an advisory stating that a hacking group connected to the North Korean government has been caught employing new wiretapping malware in recent surveillance attacks. The group, identified as APT37, has been observed utilizing a backdoor created in the Go programming language, which takes advantage of Ably, a real-time data transfer and messaging platform.

Additionally, they have been using a previously unknown information stealer capable of wiretapping through the microphone. AhnLab, headquartered in South Korea, detected these latest attacks in May 2023 and issued a warning, revealing that the hackers employ a disguised CHM payload (Compiled HTML Help File).
