Produce Giant Dole Shuts Down Plants Due to Ransomware Attack

A ransomware attack that appears to have led to product shortages in some grocery stores has forced produce giant Dole to shut down plants.

Dole stated that it was dealing with a cybersecurity incident involving ransomware in a statement published on its website. To address and investigate the attack, the company has contacted law enforcement and outside cybersecurity experts. The company, which has its headquarters in Ireland, claimed that the Dole ransomware attack had only had a minor effect on its business operations.

Ransomware revenue fell in 2022, according to data from Blockchain data company Chainalysis, as victims grew more resistant to paying ransom demands. Ransomware organizations received USD 457 million overall in 2022 as opposed to USD 766 million in 2021.
