Rackspace, a provider of cloud services, has acknowledged being the target of a ransomware attack after being compelled to shut down its Hosted Exchange environment. On Friday, December 2, issues with the hosted Microsoft Exchange service from Rackspace first appeared.

Then, the company announced that a security incident had occurred and shut down the affected environment. The business acknowledged that a ransomware attack was to blame for the disruption’s suspicious activity. There was no mention of Rackspace on the leak websites of several significant ransomware groups, according to reporters.

The cybercriminals are probably still attempting to reach an agreement with the business given how recent the incident was before listing it on their website and threatening to release stolen data, though.
