This week, German power electronics producer Semikron disclosed that it had been the target of a cyberattack.

Power modules and systems are produced by Semikron, which has 24 subsidiaries and employs 3,000 people worldwide. In addition to other applications, its products are used in industrial automation systems and motor drives. On Monday, Semikron announced on its website that “a professional hacker group” had targeted the company.

The business claimed that the incident led to the partial encryption of files and IT systems. Semikron reported that the hackers said they had taken data from its systems, and the business is investigating this claim.
