Cequence Reports Massive Spike in API attacks

According to the latest report by cyber-security firm Cequence, a huge spike in malicious attacks on API endpoints is underway since April. According to the report, malicious traffic increased by 40% to 28 million events over a week.

Moreover, on April 23rd, a massive spike of 279% which resulted in 78 million incursions took place. This resulted in over 100,000 requests per minute. In the subsequent week, the spike led to 139 million requests or an 85% increase. The worldwide stay-at-home orders and increasing shift towards remote work have led to the subsequent attacks.
