Five Eyes Agencies Release New Alert Regarding APT Volt Typhoon in China

Government agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand have warned critical infrastructure entities about the threat posed by Volt Typhoon. This Chinese state-sponsored group hacked thousands of organizations worldwide.

Following a February CISA advisory on Volt Typhoon preparing to disrupt or destroy critical infrastructure organizations’ networks, the Five Eyes agencies are now guiding how essential infrastructure entities can defend against the threat. According to the Five Eyes advisory, the advanced persistent threat (APT) actor successfully hacked US communications, energy, transportation, and water and wastewater organizations.

The Five Eyes agencies recommend that smaller organizations without a cybersecurity team use managed security services.
