After a database hack that resulted in the theft of emails, usernames, and encrypted passwords, popular streaming media platform Plex is rushing to reset user passwords.

The Californian company Plex, which operates a client-server media player platform and a streaming media service, acknowledged that a third party “was able to access a limited subset of data” from a compromised database. All Plex users are being urged by the company to change their account passwords right away and log out of every device they have connected to the service.

The business claimed that because credit card and other payment information is not kept on its servers, it was not exposed to risk or compromised in this incident. Plex omitted to say how the database was compromised or whether any software flaws were used.
