South Korea-based Samsung on Friday announced that it experienced a cybersecurity incident that resulted in the unauthorized access of some customer information, the second time this year it has reported such a breach.

Samsung stated in a notice that “In late July 2022, an unauthorized third-party obtained information from several of Samsung’s U.S. networks. discovered through our continuing investigation that certain customers’ personal information was compromised on or about August 4, 2022.”

According to Samsung, the intrusion allowed hackers to access details on product registrations, names, contact and demographic information, and dates of birth. Although it emphasized that the incident did not affect users’ Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, or debit card numbers, it was stated that the information that was compromised for each pertinent consumer may differ.
