Self-Propagating Threat 'Rorschach' Ransomware Emerges

Check Point, a cybersecurity company, warns that the newly discovered ‘Rorschach’ ransomware uses a highly effective file-encryption routine, making it one of the fastest ransomware families available.

Rorschach can automatically spread if run on a domain controller; it has already claimed at least one victim in the US. The malware can be easily customized and has special features that set it apart from other ransomware families.

The ransomware doesn’t seem to be connected to other malware families, and its operator doesn’t seem to be associated with well-known ransomware groups, despite the fact that it appears to have been inspired by infamous ransomware.
