An Android app, downloaded over 50,000 times from Google Play, was discovered to have been transformed into spyware through a malicious update.

The app, named ‘Updates for Android,’ initially functioned as legitimate software, but an update turned it into spyware, allowing the attacker to access sensitive information on users’ devices.

The malicious update has since been removed from Google Play, but the incident highlights the need for users to be cautious while downloading and updating apps from trusted sources.
