Microsofts Latest Security Feature Uses GPS to Keep Hackers Out

Microsoft has developed new Azure Active Directory identity and access management capabilities that offer businesses a better chance of fending off hackers’ devious two-factor authentication techniques.

The identity dilemma that most companies face was recently clarified by Microsoft’s CISO. In an interview with CNBC about Microsoft’s attempts to destroy the password, he said people are really intent on taking advantage of identity, it’s become a classic: hackers don’t break in, they log in.

Microsoft is adding GPS-based named locations and filters to its Azure AD “Conditional Access” function, which examines a variety of signals to determine if a user is approved.
