Zoom’s Five9 deal under US National Security Review

The upcoming acquisition of Five9 by Zoom is under investigation by a US government committee as it concerns national security risks.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) last month requesting FCC’ review on the Zoom-Five9 deal. The Department wants to halt the deal until a telecommunications security committee is able to assess potential security risks.

The US DOJ believes that the foreign participation associated with application increases risks and thus deemed it necessary to be reviewed by the committee, assess and provide appropriate recommendations.
