AnyDesk Software, a Germany-based developer of popular remote access software, notified customers on Friday of a significant security breach.

According to the company, compromised AnyDesk production systems were found during a security audit that was prompted by suspicious activity. The attack itself has not been extensively discussed, but AnyDesk has made it clear that the event “is not related to ransomware.” Authorities have been informed, and AnyDesk has called in CrowdStrike to assist with the investigation and resolution of the incident.

Although the company says it is certain AnyDesk is safe to use, users are advised to make sure they are running the most recent version, which has the updated code signing certificate.
